The DIY Faecal Egg Count Reduction Test makes it easy to check drenches work — no contractors, farmers complete it on farm and receive a full report.

Description

  • The FECPAK FECRT (Faecal Egg Count Reduction Test) is a practical, independent tool that helps farmers confirm whether their drench is working. Regular FECRTs identify parasite resistance early, before it leads to production losses. Delivered as a DIY on‑farm kit, it removes the need for contractors, making best‑practice resistance testing accessible and cost effective.
  • Drench resistance is widespread and often invisible. By the time poor performance is noticed, ineffective drenches may have reduced animal growth and farm returns for years. Research by FECPAK with UK supermarket Sainsbury’s found undetected resistance caused average annual losses of around $75,000 (2017 NZD), reducing farm profits by about 14%.
  • The FECPAK FECRT helps prevent these losses by providing clear evidence of which drench actives are effective on a property and which are not. It assesses actives rather than brands, supporting informed, independent decisions. As FECPAK does not sell drenches, results remain unbiased and focused on better parasite control.
  • The test is completed on farm without contractors. Farmers collect faecal samples before and after treatment, then send them to the FECPAK lab for analysis. Results are returned in a clear, easy‑to‑interpret report outlining drench efficacy and resistance by active.
  • Each kit includes everything needed to collect, bag and courier samples, along with simple instructions and a video guide.
  • By confirming which drenches work—or identifying those that don’t—the FECPAK FECRT supports targeted parasite management, reduces unnecessary drench use and helps slow resistance development. Most importantly, it protects animal performance and farm returns by ensuring parasites are effectively controlled.
